BSF troops thwart infiltration bid in J&K’s Samba, kill Pak intruder

Alert Border Security Force troops fired at a Pakistani intruder close to a forward post along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir late on Wednesday evening, potentially preventing a significant infiltration attempt. The troops noticed a suspicious movement near the border fence at around 8.15 pm and challenged the intruder.

Pakistan to block over 5 lakh SIM cards of tax evaders

The government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and other telecom companies to deactivate the mobile phone SIM cards of more than 500,000 individuals who have failed to submit their tax returns. The development came a day after Shehbaz Sharif pledged at the closing plenary session of the World Economic Forum (WEF) special conference in Riyadh.
