Jharkhand Police on Wednesday arrested Seema Patra, the suspended BJP functionary and wife of a former IAS officer, for allegedly torturing her adivasi domestic help Sunita Kumari. Seema's son, disturbed by the torture, had reportedly shared the videos with his friend, an officer of the personnel & administrative reforms department of Jharkhand government, who went to police.

At 13.5% in Q1, India's GDP grows at fastest pace in a year

Data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) showed the country's GDP rose by an annual 13.5% in the April-June quarter of the current fiscal year, higher than the 4.1% in the previous quarter, but below the 20.1% recorded in the first quarter of 2021-22. The 13.5% growth was lower than the Reserve Bank of India's estimate of 16.2% for the first quarter of 2022-23.

Covid booster coverage lowest in two NE states, Jharkhand

Desi qHPV vax against cervical cancer to be launched today

India is all set to launch on Thursday its first indigenously developed quadrivalent Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine for prevention of cervical cancer. Weekly Covid cases fall below 70,000, but no decline in deaths

Fresh cases of Covid-19 in India fell to an 11-week low, with detected infections in the week ending Sunday falling below 70,000 and the daily average cases under 10,000 for the first time in nearly three months. However, there was no decline in the number of deaths from the virus as over 275 new fatalities were reported in the week (August 22-28), nearly the same as in the previous seven days (278), as per TOI’s Covid database.

Monkeypox task force set up as first death in India confirmed
