A federal judge has blocked the enforcement of the H-1B visa ban issued by US President Donald Trump in June this year, saying the President exceeded his constitutional authority. The ruling places an immediate hold on a series of visa restrictions that prevent manufacturers from filling crucial, hard-to-fill jobs to support economic recovery, growth and innovation when most needed, the National Association of manufacturers said.

India, China working on 7th round of LAC talks
Following the diplomatic talks this week on the LAC stand-off, the government on Thursday reiterated that the two sides are now working to schedule the next (7th) round of the senior commanders’ meeting. The meeting is important for India and China to work towards early and complete disengagement of troops along the LAC.

Curbs on defence spending eased due to LAC row
The ongoing military confrontation with China along the line of actual control has prompted the government to ease spending restrictions on defence while keeping tabs on expenditure on non-essential services. The expenditure control guidelines for the third quarter of the financial year issued by the finance ministry on September 28 has also provided relaxation for the fertiliser ministry as well ahead of the sowing season.
