Japan aims soft landing on moon on January 20

Japan's spacecraft SLIM, also called Moon Sniper, is set to execute a soft landing on the moon on January 20. The mission aims to evaluate equipment, investigate the moon's origins, and study low gravity technology. This will be Japan's third attempt to land on the moon. According to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (Jaxa), the primary role of the mission is to do a pinpoint landing on the moon, evaluate size and weight of equipment used in the landing and investigate the moon’s origins.
